The planting in the new beds proved to be a very popular and exciting event with the
children. They enjoyed planting all the wonderful plants which you so very kindly donated. We
would like to say a huge thank you for your generosity with the plants and to PAFA for the flower
beds.
Year 1 were lucky enough to go on a trip to the Tower of London. After a very long coach trip
we rushed in to meet our guide ‘Sir Gilbert’ who told us lots of stories about people who had lived
in the Tower, famous kings and knights. It was very interesting. We then went to see the Crown
Jewels, which were pretty amazing. Some of us talked to the Yeoman Warder’s, the keepers of the
Tower and asked them some questions. We all met up at Traitor’s Gate where we remembered the story
of Elizabeth I and how she arrived at the Tower, before going back to the coach, for a much faster
trip home.
On Friday 6
th June we had our Childrens Summer Fair. The children were asked to bring in a £1
coin and small change to buy things which they had made this half-term in their classes. The
children had a fantastic morning buying back nearly all the things they had made! At the end
of the morning the children very generously donated their change which they hadn’t spent at the
fair. The staff added an inch or two to their waistlines by buying and eating 2 boxes of
doughnuts donated by Mrs Bennett. All the monies raised will go to St Christopher’s Hospice in
memory of Mrs Frost’s husband. We will leave you to guess whether the boys or the girls spent
the most!
Year 2 visited Bodiam Castle on 4
th September. This proved to be an exhausting but rewarding day and all children
took part in three activities: a tour given by a castle guide; a climb up to the battlements and a
visit to the Armoury. The latter activity was hugely popular and involved the children having
free reign over all the armour to dress themselves up at will. We were very lucky with the
weather and managed to enjoy a splendid picnic in the castle grounds.
