The Queen visited Tower RNLI lifeboat station

Yesterday (Wednesday, 24th February) Lieutenant Matt Leat, Old Colfeian (1996 - 2001) and one of the Officers in the Colfe’s CCF Squadron, was introduced to HM the Queen when she visited his RNLI Station on the River Thames. The Queen visited Tower RNLI lifeboat station to meet lifeboat crew members whose mission is to save lives on the tidal reaches of the River Thames. Her Majesty was greeted by Admiral the Lord Boyce, Chairman of the RNLI, before being given a whistle-stop tour of the lifeboat station, situated on a floating pier beneath Waterloo Bridge. In 2009, Tower was once again the busiest lifeboat station across the UK and Ireland, with its crew launching 380 times and rescuing 148 people.
