On Thursday 4th February 2010 a total of 112 students from the top 2 sets in years 9, years 10
and 11 sat the Intermediate Maths Challenge which is a competition held by the United Kingdom
Mathematical Trust. The competition is to challenge the most able students in years 9, 10 and 11.
We achieved in total 4 gold, 14 Silver and 24 Bronze certificates.
A breakdown of each year gave us:
Year 11 : 3 Gold, 3 Silver, 9 Bronze
Year 10 : 3 Silver, 5 Bronze
Year 9 : 1 Gold, 7 Silver, 10 Bronze
Year 8 : 1 Silver
A special mention goes to Alastair Porter who achieved a gold certificate and was awarded the ‘ Best in School’ certificate and to Oliver Skeates in Year 8 who achieved a Silver award.
Best in year 10 was Nicholas Duxbury and Charlie Whittaker in year 11.
