House system and prefects
|
On entering the Prep School a child will be placed in one of four
Houses: Aquila (Red), Lynx (Blue), Orion (Yellow), Pegasus
(Green).
Pupils are awarded ‘plusses’ and ‘credits’ for excellent work, effort, manner and
behaviour and these are credited to both the individual and his/her house.

At the end of each term the house which averages the highest number of plusses and
credits earns the privilege of a house tea. The winning house is required to provide the tea for
its members. Other house competitions include rugby, netball, football, rounders, swimming,
cricket, athletics, cross-country and general knowledge. Siblings are usually placed in the same
house.
During the course of Year 6 all pupils will have the opportunity to take on a
prefect or house appointment. The appointments are published termly in the school calendar. In
providing a wide range of positions and changing them termly, children are encouraged to take on a
variety of roles within the school. It is also seen as a way in which to build confidence and
develop a sense of responsibility.
