House system
All pupils at Colfe’s are randomly assigned to one of four houses named after the four longest
serving Headmasters in Colfe’s 354 year history. Beardwood, Bramley, Norton and Prendergast
each have two House Tutors, plus two House Captains selected from the Lower VI. In addition, all
new members of staff are assigned to one of the houses.
A full and varied programme of activities is
organised outside the main curriculum in which the pupils participate in healthy competition by age
groups.
The emphasis of the House System is on participation by as many
pupils as possible, giving them the opportunity to represent a team in activities which they may
otherwise not get the chance to do at school representative level.
