Pastoral system
Colfe’s has a long established tradition and reputation for excellent pastoral care. The system
is overseen by the Deputy Head (Pastoral) and in Years 7 – 11 is based around a system of five Year
Heads who, with the help of their five form tutors are responsible for the pastoral care and
academic monitoring of around 110 pupils in their respective year groups. The Heads of Years 8 and
9 and Heads of Years 10 and 11 continue with their year groups for two years. Form tutors of Year 7
also have a group of Year 13 Mentors to help all the pupils settle into the Senior School.
In Years 12 and 13 there is a Head of Sixth Form supported by an academic deputy and a pastoral
deputy, who with a team of 20 tutors, oversee and monitor the well-being and academic progress of
the students during their A level courses.
The pastoral team is completed by the School Nurse and the School Counsellor, who both play a
major part in the well-being and happiness of the pupils in our care.
School nurse
The school nurse is involved in all aspects of First Aid, treatment and sickness care. She plays
an important role in preventative care, health education, parental liaison and general health and safety issues. She is available throughout the school day.
School counsellor
In addition to the normal pastoral care system provided by form tutors and Heads of Year,
Colfe's also uses the services of a fully qualified Counsellor. Any pupil is able to make an appointment to see her if they so wish.
