Overview
Origins
The Old Colfeian’s Association was founded in 1885, with the object of “keeping together Old
Colfeians and providing sports and social facilities for its members”. Established at Horn Park in
1902, the spacious clubhouse was built in 1930 and has undergone periodic improvement to give us
today’s first class facility. The Club is one of the best and oldest of its type in the country and
is situated a short distance from the school.
In 2005 membership of the Club was opened to the public and the Club acquired charitable
status. At the same time it was renamed the Colfeian Sports Club to reflect this new status.
Facilities
The ground of 13 acres comprises three rugby and one soccer pitches, a bowls green with a
separate pavilion, three cricket squares plus a separate training area. The clubhouse contains a
large hall, used for badminton and social events. It also has a sports and lounge bar. The well-
appointed sports bar includes a pool area, darts and satellite television.
Linked to the main clubhouse by a footbridge are two squash courts, which can be booked in
the main bar.
Management Structure
The Old Colfeian Club Ltd comprises a Board of Directors and 48 shareholders who are responsible
for holding the Crown Lease of the Ground. The executive committee is formed by the elected
officers and representatives from each section and is responsible for the administration of the
Colfeian Sports Club.
